For me, it’s about learning because I think there’s a lot of men that can benefit from having a new understanding of what it means to be a caregiver.

– Justin Baldoni

Caring for others is an act of love that comes with joyous moments along with many personal sacrifices. In Episode 2 of Man Enough to Care, Justin Baldoni is joined by Devon Still, Zach Anner, Nathan Kress and Robert Espinoza to discuss how caregiving plays into their lives and their masculinity. As a former NFL star, Still shares his impactful experience as a caregiver for his four-year-old daughter with cancer, how caring for her altered his personal and professional life forever, and how being vulnerable in front of his daughter, his family, and his peers took a lot of strength.

A lot of people think that I was strong all the time, but I really wasn’t. You’re bascially thrown into a world that you have no idea what’s going on. I went from being a professional football player to a nurse.

– Devon Still

Ai-jen Poo, director of Caring Across Generations, explains how caregivers possess much strength. Caregiving is emotionally and spiritually difficult because of one’s commitment to prioritize the health of their loved one. Oftentimes, many men suffer in silence and fail to reach out to available resources and services.
