We all want to live in a world where every family has the time and resources to raise healthy, thriving children and to give them the best opportunities possible. A world where the voices of all parents and caregivers are heard and used to inspire change in their communities.

The Family Advisory Committee (FAC) of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is an esteemed group of 11 parent and caregiver advisors from across the country. Over the last two years, they have shared their insights from their unique parenting experiences and backgrounds. The learnings derived from this partnership have helped to guide and shape RWJF strategies, grantmaking, programming, and internal processes. The FAC is one approach RWJF is building on to ensure that the voices of parents and caregivers are heard, valued, and responded to. RWJF is pleased to help share the stories of eight FAC members: Baisha Whitten, Briana Jones, Charles Perry, Corhonda Corley, Fran Gladney, Michaela Martin, Sharita Bingham, and Waukecha Wilkerson.

These parent and caregiver advisors have shared personal moments of triumph and inspiration and why working toward more equitable care systems is a priority for them. They have helped RWJF uncover effective approaches to overcome systemic barriers that often prevent families from benefiting from policies and programs that are meant to support them. The advisors’ stories are profound and moving.
