On Monday, October 28, 2024, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation hosted a live conversation on addressing the narrative and policy dimensions of our nation’s child care system. The event was led by Jennifer Ng’andu, Managing Director, Program of RWJF’s Healthy Children and Families.
The discussion featured leading experts, including Andrew Volmert, Senior Vice President of Research at the FrameWorks Institute; David Alexander, President at Leading for Kids; Erica Phillips, Executive Director at the National Association for Family Child Care; and Julia Sosa, Parent Leader Representative from the United Parent Leaders Action Network.
During the conversation, panelists highlighted a new, evidence-based message-framing strategy called Collective Caregiving, developed by the FrameWorks Institute and Leading for Kids. They also explored ways to shift public discourse and policy priorities toward a more comprehensive and equitable support system for families, emphasizing that caregiving is a collective responsibility that benefits all of society.
